03What we're built on

Five values,
in sports

Canvas Church's five values, carried onto the court, the field and the pitch.
Campers sitting courtside, listening to their coach

We're building a family.

  1. Passionate

    01
“We do the best we can with what we have, and we do it all for the Lord.”
    Colossians 3:23

    Effort is the standard.

Every time we step in the gym we push each other to work hard, and we recognize it when we see it.

  2. Fun

    02
    “We enjoy the journey.”
    Romans 14:17

We have fun doing the work.

We compete, we work hard, and we enjoy the process of getting better.

  3. Relational

    03
    “We are better together.”
    Romans 12:10

We train together and build relationships that last a lifetime.

We treat everyone here as family. The friendships built in this gym are meant to outlast the seasons.

  4. Restoration

    04
“We value the journey of God restoring people.”
    Ephesians 2:10

Your mistakes do not define you.

Every mistake is a lesson. They are what build endurance and strength.

  5. Generous

    05
    “We worship God through giving.”
    2 Corinthians 9:11

    We are generous.

We treat everyone like they belong here. And no athlete is turned away over money without a conversation first.

04Standards

Non‑
negotiables

Values are what we aim at. These are the standards every House of Hoops coach and athlete is held to.
  1. 01

    Professional Approach

You greet everyone. You show up on time, prepared, ready to work. Every rep, every day.

    Proverbs 22:29

  2. 02

    Servant Leadership

We over me. You go above and beyond for the person next to you. Leadership is measured by putting someone else's needs above your own.

    Mark 10:43–45

  3. 03

    Intentional Communication

We talk to build people up: on the floor, in the huddle, and about the people who aren't in the room.

    Ephesians 4:29

  4. 04

    Count It All Joy

Adversity is a part of life. We rejoice in hope and stay patient through it. Endurance builds character, and character is the point.

    James 1:2–4 · Romans 5:3–4

  5. 05

    Love First

Everyone belongs here and everyone is part of the family, whether it's your first day or your fourth year.

    1 Corinthians 16:14

Behind all of it

Every coach is background-checked and child-safety trained before their first session.

And no adult is ever alone with a minor.

★★★★★Summer camps
“My girls picked up real skills, but they also built confidence in a sport they don't necessarily know or previously cared too much about. … Every time I picked her up, she had a big smile on her face and a new story to tell. She's already asking when the next camp is.”
House of Hoops parent
★★★★★Gym rental
“Noah was amazing, great communication, so helpful on the day of the event. … A lot of kids said it was the best birthday party they had been to. We had 40 guests and it didn't feel too crowded.”
